Contact us at: JUNE UPDATE For those of you that aren’t aware, the Summer Fayre is to be held on Sunday 27th June between 1pm and 5pm on the Market Square. The theme of the day will be the Mad Hatter’s tea party. There will be rides, stalls, music and food and drink. As you can imagine, there is a tremendous amount of hard work and time that has already gone into making this happen and lots more work to come. If you would like to know more, or think you could assist (either on the day or beforehand) please contact Lisa at Polkadot Gallery, on 07932 330197 as soon as possible to let her know how you can help. Last week members of the Chamber of Trade met with a team from Aylesbury Vale District Council (including the deputy Chief Executive) to raise awareness of the issues facing Winslow and to consider ways in which they might be able to assist us. The meeting was very positive, well attended by our side and gave a very clear indication of how much the business community of Winslow is doing to help itself. We hope to see some direct benefits from this meeting, with skills, contacts and possibly funding for the town. We will update you on progress. We are really pleased that membership of the Chamber of Trade continues to grow. For current members, remember that this is your organisation, so if there are things that you would like to be raised or considered then let us know. For those business people who aren’t yet members, but want to see Winslow continue to grow and develop, especially during these tough economic times, the Chamber of Trade is a way for us to have a coherent voice to speak up for local businesses and traders. Every member makes a difference. Please contact Helen on 01296 712466 for membership information.
The monthly farmers market is going from strength to strength and is gaining a reputation as one of the best in the region. It is really pleasing to see the market supporting our local farmers and producers – Granborough, Oving, Hoggeston etc. Not only that, but it gives a real life to Winslow and traders in town, who open on that Sunday, report some real increases in sales and many new visitors to the town. Thanks to those volunteers who give up their Sunday morning once a month.
Discussions continue between the District and Town Councils about the District’s proposal to introduce parking charges in Greyhound Lane. We have let our opposition be known from a business perspective and will let you know when we hear anything more.
Recognition for the Town CouncilI am sure you will want to join us in congratulating Winslow Town Council who have recently been recognised in a national awards ceremony as one of the most improved councils in the country. The support they give to the Chamber of Trade is invaluable.
